RECAP: Wildcats steal the Extra Point in Overtime

In what turned out to be a close fought battle, the Wildcats thought they had done enough to secure a 3 to 2 victory over the Basingstoke Bison. However, a determined Bison drew things level with just 12 seconds of regulation remaining on the clock! Overtime ...

The new 3 on 3 overtime format has certainly made things more interesting. End to end stuff and the result could have gone either way. However, it would be the Wildcats that would secure the victory after Jonas Hoog stole the puck from Bison D-man Alex Symonds and went in one-on-one with the netminder. A high blocker side shot beat the keeper and the Wildcats celebrated their narrow escape, the extra point and their first 4 point weekend of the 2015/16 season.

Recap the numbers with an infographic from David Strover:

Man of the Match 01/11/2015, #60 Jonas Hoog

Congratulations to Jonas Hoog who picked up the Man of the Match award for his performance against the Basingstoke Bison last Sunday night.

Hoog put the Wildcats ahead late in the third with an awesome power play goal.  However, the Bison drew level with just 12 seconds remaining in regulation.

The new 3 on 3 overtime format provides the skaters with loads of space and the action was end to end.  Up steps Hoog and strips former team mate Alex Symonds (Bison) of the puck and heads in one on one with the netminder.  A high blocker side shot finds the back of the net and Hoog sealed the victory and extra point.

Well done Jonas!

RECAP: A great fist period for the Cats seals Phoenix fate!

The Swindon Wildcats look to break their win, loss, win, loss cycle and grab their first 4 point weekend of the 2015-16 season.  Step 1 was achieved last night, with a rare away win, against MK.  Can we seal the deal tonight as we face Basingstoke Bison?

If last weeks home win against Manchester Phoenix is anything to go by, the Wildcats stand a good chance!  Lets recap the numbers from that win with an infographic from David Strover:

Man of the Match 24/10/2015, #1 Jordan Hedley

Thrown head first into his first full regular season game for the Cats, Jordan Hedley proved he was certainly up for the challenge! Conceding a goal in the first minute did not get the better of the young net minder, he bounced back even stronger, working hard towards a 7-4 win for the home team.

Hadley stopped a total of 42 of the 46 shots faced ... a performance worthy of the Man of the Match award!

Well done Jordan!
